HERALDRY OF OUR SCHOOL BADGE
The demi-lion rampant is reminiscent of Sir George Grey, after whom Greytown itself was named. This has been taken from his coat of arms. The Zulu assegai reminds us of our school motto 'Aim High' and secondly of the history of Natal.Umvoti County, as one of the best watered parts of Natal is represented by the three wavy lines.
The School administration is run by two extremely remarkable ladies. Our friendly receptionist,Mrs Bossoff and our financial secretary Mrs Fourie. Between them these ladies will be able to answer any questions you may have regarding the day to day running of the school. You may contact the school directly or pop in to see one of them.
Quality education has always been our top priority at Greytown Junior School. We offer medium sized classes and make use of many educational aids to assist and uplift our pupils. Our children leave Greytown Junior School with confidence and skills that enable them to achieve their individual goals and potential to the fullest extent in high school and later in life. This is largely due to our dedicated teaching staff who continually provide both professional and personal commitment to each child in their care.We currently offer two classes per grade from entry level at Grade R to the final year of primary education in Grade 7. Our class numbers are between 28 and 32 in the Junior and Senior Primary phases.
Pupils from Grade 1 to Grade 7 are involved in media lessons each week. During this lesson, facilitated by our resident librarian Mrs Billinge, and assisted by their educators they exchange books, which they read in class as well in their spare time. They are taught how to look after books, how to access and process information.
